Is an immigration evaluation the same as therapy?
No. An immigration evaluation assesses and documents a person's psychological condition for use in an immigration application. It is not treatment and does not create an ongoing clinical relationship. If treatment is indicated, the clinician can recommend it separately.
Do I need an attorney to request an immigration evaluation?
No. You can request an evaluation without one. Ordonez Counseling usually works alongside attorneys to understand what the case requires.
Where does Ordonez Counseling provide immigration evaluations?
In all 50 states, remotely. Ordonez Counseling is based in California.
What happens in the interview?
A licensed clinician conducts a structured clinical interview by phone in your language, Spanish or English, without an interpreter. Standardized instruments are administered when clinically indicated. The interview covers your history, the events relevant to your case, and your current symptoms.
How long is the interview?
Interviews typically take two to three hours. A shorter follow-up video call is scheduled afterward to review the findings.
How long does an immigration evaluation take?
Turnaround is stated in the written quote and runs from the final interview. Expedited timelines can be quoted.
How much does an immigration evaluation cost?
Evaluations start at 1,250 USD. The written quote states what is included. Addenda, declarations, records review beyond the quote, expedited timelines, and testimony are quoted separately.
Does Ordonez Counseling accept insurance?
No. Payment is by card only. Insurance is not billed.
Can I get a refund?
No. Payment is final once the appointment is scheduled. See the Evaluation Terms.
Who receives the report?
The report is delivered by email to the attorney you designate. At your request it is also sent to you. It is not released to anyone else without your written authorization.
Is the report written in Spanish or English?
The report is written in English, the language of the immigration proceeding. The interview is conducted in Spanish or English.
Can a family member be present during the interview?
The interview is conducted with the client alone, unless an impairment requires assistance. Contact Ordonez Counseling before the interview to discuss specific accommodations.
Which immigration cases does Ordonez Counseling evaluate?
Asylum, VAWA, U Visa, T Visa, and hardship waivers, as well as other immigration or administrative matters where a clinical evaluation is required.
What if my case type is not listed?
Send a request and describe the matter. Ordonez Counseling will confirm whether an evaluation applies before quoting.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Information shared for the evaluation is used only for the evaluation and released only as you authorize in writing. Limits required by law apply, including mandatory reporting of abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult and serious danger to yourself or others.
